Our 2-Day Corporate Venturing programs

provide key principles and approaches to corporate venturing. Zhaohui (Jeffrey) Li

Jeffrey currently serves as Managing Partner of Tencent Investment and General Manager of Tencent M&A, focusing on Tencent’s global investment and M&A activity in the areas of Interactive Entertainment and Gaming, Social Networking and Messaging, O2O (“Online-to-Offline”), and Internet Finance, among other areas. In particular, he leads Tencent’s worldwide Gaming industry investment and M&A.

Jeffrey is also responsible for Tencent’s early stage and early growth stage investment strategy in China and multiple countries. In recent years, he launched and led Tencent Investment’s ongoing efforts to penetrate key O2O sectors, including Automotive, Education, Healthcare and Internet Finance. He was responsible for Tencent’s investments in Huayi brothers, Zhihu, Netmarble Games, Howbuy and many others around the world. Jeffery is No. 1 in the GCV Powerlist 100

Cha Li
iStart Ventures LLC

Mr. Cha Li is a serial entrepreneur and angel investor, and the Founder and Managing Partner of iStart Ventures LLC and Dragonvest Partners LLC. He is one of the most active angel investors in China today, with a portfolio of approx. 50 technology start-up companies including 31huiyi, Bobo, Ultizen, Meishisong, ZFA, Wolongge, Qushu and Ertu etc.

Mr. Cha Li graduated with a master degree from the University College London. He is an Horary Professor at Jiaotong University Shanghai as well as an Executive Advisor to Shanghai University Campus Technology Venture Foundation.

Dr. Xuan Chen

Xuan is head of ARM Strategic Investment Team. He is the managing director of HOPU-ARM Innovation Fund and co-founder of ARM ecosystem accelerator. Dr. Chen has about 20 years’ experience in high-tech industry, including strategic engagement and investment in Cloud and IoT ecosystem, business development and marketing of Microsoft Cloud Services, and product development of various enterprise software products. He received Ph.D. in Computer Science from University of Southern California, MBA from University of Massachusetts Amherst and Bachelor in Computer Communications from Beijing University of Post and Telecommunication. He is a founding board member of Seattle Venture Investment Associate (SVIA), a non-profit organization that promotes venture investment and entrepreneurship in Seattle high-tech community.

Cooley LLP

Patrick’s practice focuses on the representation of high-growth emerging technology and life sciences companies as well as venture capital and other firms that invest in those companies.

Tim Smith

Tim is an Executive at Rouse and a Partner of Rouse Legal. He specialises in advising developed market businesses, both MNCs and SMEs on their new ventures and IP strategy in China. Now based in London, Tim previously worked in house as well as running the Rouse Beijing office for over five years. This gives him a unique perspective into the needs of corporates in the Chinese market. Tim’s clients include major brand, technology and content companies. In the constantly changing Chinese environment, Tim supports his clients with the development and maintenance of their competitive advantage through the creation, enforcement and commercialisation of their IP assets. Tim has a particular specialism in managing IP litigation and has done so in more than 20 jurisdictions in Europe, South America and Asia.

Paul Morris

Paul has over 18 years of Corporate Venture Capital experience. He set up the CVC unit of Dow Chemical Europe in 1996 and ran this for 16 years. During this time he made over 50 investments across all sectors, comprising direct deals in start-ups and VC fund Limited Partner positions. He interacted with a broad range of syndicate partners in attending over 300 portfolio company board meetings. Paul now leads the CV efforts of UKTI and interacts with over 80 CV units globally.

Andrew Gaule

Andrew for over 15 years has been advising and working with leading corporates to set up Corporate Venturing and Open Innovation programs. Andrew is working in a range of strategic programs in corporates, building team capabilities, supporting drive of new ventures and building Innovative New Value Chains® in corporates in Europe, USA and Asia in the advisory firm, Aimava.
